Creating the Three Valleys Community Rail Partnership. 2024/2025

The Origins project focused on establishing the Three Valleys Community Rail Partnership and building a strong, inclusive foundation for all future work.From the outset, the aim was to bring together communities, organisations and partners connected by the Merthyr, Aberdare and Treherbert rail lines, ensuring the Partnership was shaped by local voices and shared priorities.This early work created the structure, relationships and vision needed to support community-led projects that strengthen connections between people, places and the railway.

What this project included

  • Early conversations with communities and stakeholders across the Three Valleys
  • Development of a shared vision and agreed priorities
  • Establishment of a steering group and themed sub-groups
  • Creation of the Partnership name, identity and focus
  • Official launch of the Partnership in September 2025

What’s next

The foundations established through the Origins project continue to guide the Partnership’s work, supporting the delivery of current projects and the development of new initiatives across the Three Valleys.
